The exceptionally beautiful ametrine comes from the Anahi mine in the La Gaiba district of Sandoval province in Bolivia, on the border with Brazil. Ametrine is an attractive variety of two-coloured quartz (purple-yellow with a sharp transition of colours). It occurs in the only place in the world in Bolivia. Literary records indicate other occurrences, but ametrine does not achieve jewellery quality there. This offered ametrine has a modern fancy cut in the form of a rectangular cushion (11.2 x 10.7 mm), some of the facets of the pavilion are deliberately unpolished, creating interesting patterns on the offered stone.
