Safír asterický 2.19 ct

2 000
A light blue sapphire with a very pronounced asterism (an asterism is an optical phenomenon where due to submicroscopic rutile needles the light reflects from the stone and a moving six-pointed star is formed on the stone surface; this phenomenon is displayed only if the stone is cut in the form of a cabochon). The offered stone exhibits a very sharp star, and so asterism is evident even in poor lighting. For observing a star on a gemstone, sharp sunlight or other intense light sources are ideal (for example, a fluorescent lamp is quite inappropriate). Star sapphires in general are undoubtedly one of the best investment stones; they are also “destined“ for luxury jewellery. This star sapphire comes from Kolonne, Ratnapura, Sri Lanka (Ceylon), and is cut into an oval cabochon with measurements 7,26 x 6,29 mm. The bottom surface of the cabochon (the one that is not visible when the stone is set) is not polished and completely perfect – these imperfections are used when the precious stone is glued into the jewel.
